Description
Frans Fontaine Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus 'Frans Fontaine') — A narrow, upright deciduous tree with dark green foliage, smooth grey bark, and a strong columnar form. Its compact shape and excellent structure make it ideal for streetscapes, formal landscapes, and areas where vertical growth is desired. Hardy, adaptable, and low maintenance, it performs best in full sun to partial shade with well-drained soil. Mature size: 12–18 m (40–60 ft) tall × 3–5 m (10–15 ft) wide.
