Description
River Birch (Betula nigra) — A graceful deciduous tree known for its attractive exfoliating bark, which ranges from creamy white to salmon and cinnamon tones, and its glossy green foliage that turns yellow in fall. Often grown as a multi-stem specimen, it provides year-round interest and a natural woodland appearance. More heat tolerant than many birches and resistant to bronze birch borer, it is an excellent choice for specimen plantings, naturalized landscapes, and properties with moist soils. Performs best in full sun to partial shade with moist, well-drained soil. Mature size: 15–20 m (50–65 ft) tall × 9–12 m (30–40 ft) wide.
